Have you chosen to go with a workshop as a method, here you can learn how any workshop is structured, and why it is called a workshop, not a meeting. I will discuss, what makes your workshops effective.
What is Workshop?
Google defines workshop as a specially organised event, where a group of people meet up to present and share ideas, discuss, experiment in work or art related terms.
How to Design an Effective Workshop?
1. Define the Goal of the Workshop and the Desired Output
Start defining why you even need a workshop. What the initial goal is and what kind of results you want to achieve. Do you need a fresh look at the existing matters? Do you want to collect multiple pieces of information for your project throughout the organisation? Do you want to look out for new opportunities for your product, customer experience or the market? Do you want to update your service delivery moment?
2. Define the Participants that Will Help You to Achieve Your Workshop’s Goal
Now you have to look through your company’s layout and multiple stakeholders and define, whose participation is vital and important for your workshop’s goal. Who will be able to aid you with the valuable information during your workshop, and create the desired output for the work needed.
3. Set the Structure of Your Workshop
Basically many workshops have the same layout. It all starts with agenda and making it clear why you gathered the selected participants.
Then every workshop has a session in which you allow multiple perspectives in without huge mindcontrol, but with a relevance to your goal, topic and desired results. Though, allow for a reasonable freedom of output to find possible analogies, for instance.
After that you narrow down and select items of a bigger relevance. Find the main line of thinking and important subtopics.
4. Choose The Methods You Want to Work With
Select and work through your methodology. You will need methods for collecting multiple input and then for narrowing down and selecting purposeful actions.
Choose the relevance based on the number of participants - how large your group is, and how handy the method is for this number of participants.
If the group of participants meets a lot for different types of discussions, you might want to diversify your methods for a greater efficiency.
5. Sort Out and Prepare the Workshop Material and Tools
Make sure you have the practical things ready in their full function and needed amount. Make sure you have prepared extras just in case.
6. Think of Physical Layout and Different Types of Material to Aid Thinking Process
Select the layout and physical settings that will help you to achieve the desired results. On top of that, prepare materials to appeal to different senses - hearing, visual, and you can even try to work on scents.
