UX & Product Creation Hub: 3 Tips to Enhance Creative Output at Your Workshops

Have you tried to hold some workshops and want to improve the results, then this article is for you. Here I will suggest some elements  you can work with to maximise the effect.

What is Workshop?

Google defines workshop as a specially organised event, where a group of people meet up to present and share ideas, discuss, experiment in work or art related terms.

How to Enhance Creative Output at Your Workshops?

I worked at an engineering company with silo-based routines, and a lot of silent knowledge, kept for many years undiscussed properly. So CX and workshops was a way forth. As the company was extremely routine-based and worked in the same known patterns for years, the workshops revealed facts and approaches in the known terms. The minds and the output needed more twist in approaches to be able to elaborate on the brand name, product statement and the service delivered. The solution was found.

1. Differentiate Your Settings From the Usual Routine

To create more divergency in the workshop output you need to give a different dimension to your workshop room with a possibility to twist settings easily.

Do not recreate your office settings, create a totaly different layout - more experiemental one in your furniture, colours, ways to display workshop materials.

Make sure you can rearrange settings. Workshops can be different in methods/ number of participants and will require different layouts. Choose a more spacious room if it is possible. Buy your furniture accordingly, and extra appliences

2. Develop Your Methodology Properly for Your Divergent Thinking Phases

Use methods that will encourage more divergency. For instance, mind mapping is a well known one and yet a very effective method. If it is relevant for your topic, use some creative workshops, where particiants will be able to prototype their services and products with different materials.

Do not sting to know business methods. Apply your business methods after you are finished with your convergent thinking phase.

3. Choose Participants to Create Divergent Output at Wokshops

Make sure participants come from various areas. You need to cover the knowledge base of your workshop topic. And you need cross-subject ideas for all the projects that happen within your company.

Applying these 3 simple tips to your workshops, you will enhance the creativity in your workshop output greatly and your business result.
